Presenter: Representative Alex Andrade
Florida House of Representatives 
House District 2

Alex Andrade was born in the Cayman Islands and raised primarily in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Alex’s family moved to Florida in search of economic opportunity, starting a small manufacturing company in Opa-Locka, Florida. 

He earned his Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida (UF), where he served as President of the Trial Team and Chief Justice of the UF Supreme Court. For his service to the University of Florida, Alex was inducted into the UF Hall of Fame.

In August 2013, Alex served as a Gubernatorial Fellow in Governor Scott’s administration. As a Gubernatorial Fellow, Alex won the Jeb Bush Public Policy award for his work improving Florida’s involvement with charitable organizations and non-profits.

Alex currently serves as an attorney at the Pensacola firm of Moore, Hill & Westmoreland, P.A., specializing in civil defense and business litigation..

In 2017, Andrade was appointed by Governor Scott to serve on the 1st Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, a panel tasked with vetting and recommending judicial appointments for the Governor’s selection. In August 2018, Alex won an open Republican primary with 60.5% of the vote. Without opposition in the November general election, Andrade was elected automatically.

Alex is a founding board member of onbikes Pensacola, Inc. a non-profit dedicated to providing bikes, helmets and bike locks to children in Northwest Florida. Alex has also served on the boards of both the Escambia Santa Rosa Bar Association and the ESRBA Young Lawyers Division and served as the chair of the Greater Pensacola Chamber’s Policy Committee.


The What’s Up! Chat Series is an educational program which connects our membership with local experts and community leaders in an informal setting. This format creates a unique opportunity for speaker and audience to understand an issue’s impact on commercial real estate and the community as a whole.
